It has taken longer than expected, here IS the first smartphone from Samsung with Tizen Operating system. The smartphone is called Samsung Z, is the first in the world that runs on this platform has been presented on Tuesday (3rd June) at the Tizen developer conference that the company held in San Francisco. The device will start selling in the third quarter of this year in Russia, although it is likely to reach other markets later.
Although Tizen was already present in Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo Samsung watches, the movement is a major challenge for Google, as the Asian firm is the leading vendor of devices (phones and tablets) running Android OS. Similarly, the release of Samsung Z will challenge Apple and its iOS and Microsoft and its Windows Phone.
Samsung, which seeks greater independence from Google and from the competition (Sony, LG and HTC also used for their Android phones), has long been working with its partner Intel and Tizen to power to create the own mobile ecosystem. In fact, the South Korean firm platform (which is presented as an alternative operating system) will have its own app store, Tizen Store.
Regarding mobile, it will a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED (1280 x 720 pixels) HD scree and its casing is plastic, but mimics the skin. Something that reminds the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The terminal weighs 136 grams and is 8.6 millimeters thick. Its processor is quad-core 2.3 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 16GB storage that is expandable with microSD card (up to 64 GB).
The rear camera is 8 megapixels and the front 2.1 megapixels. Its battery is 2,600 mAh. Samsung has not yet disclosed the price, but will use this release to see if Tizen has a gap in the mobile intelligent market, where other operating systems like Firefox also look for your space.
Although Samsung claims that one of the advantages of Tizen is the speed of the interface and powerful multimedia capabilities, perhaps the main problem is that it has limited high quality applications available to make the devices attractive enough. Anyway, the Asian company has undertaken and measures to try to encourage software developers and it is very possible that the conference held tomorrow insist on that line. A move that could also help Samsung increase revenue beyond the sale of devices.
Samsung’s bid for Tizen seems strong. Beyond the wearable devices and smartphones, the company also announced that it would launch a software development kit for TVs. A solution that will enable developers to build applications that run on Tizen televisions.
