Sony has announced to release Android 5.1 update for WiFi version of Xperia Z2 and Z3 tablets. The update will arrive by the end of July. The update will be available for Xperia Z3 (SGP612JP/W and SGP611JP/W) and Xperia Z2 (SGP512JP/B and SGP511JP/B). These are the Japanese version of the tablets, and the international version may take some time to get Android 5.1.
The update will be available for those tablets that are on Android 4.4.4 OS. The update includes the bug fixes, a new notification center, changes in icons, user interface and settings.
The latest Android 5.1 will remove update center app from the device, and you can check for the updates in the brand new app “What’s New.” Sony has provided the detail about the update officially on its Sony Japan website.
The update will also have some changes in security settings. Now the Screen Lock will have a new option “Smart Lock.” And Face Unlock system will not be there as usual. Under Smart Lock, you will have three options : Trusted Faces, Trusted Places and Trusted Devices. Trusted Face will work as Face Unlock. To use Face Unlock (trusted face) feature, you need to set a PIN, Password or Pattern . You need to enable Smart Lock feature first. You can do this going to Phone’s Settings–> Security–> Trusted Agents.
