Some days ago we published an article about Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 model and revealed its all technical specifications. However, Chipset Model Number/Name was unknown. Galaxy J7 was released in 2015, but Samsung is ready to launch an upgraded version of the device this year, that will be known as Galaxy J7 2016.
Galaxy J7 2015 model is available with Exynos 7580 as well as Exynos Snapdragon 615. Galaxy J7 2016 model (SM-J710FN) has been spotted on Geekbench 3 running Exynos 7870 CPU. It scored 792 in single-core performance and 4443 in multi-core performance.
Samsung’s Exynos 7870
Exynos 7870 is a 32-bit octa-core application processor, just like its predecessor Exynos 7580. It is based on Cortex A-53. It features ARM Mali-T830 GPU. In the case of Galaxy J7 2016, it would be clocked at 1.7 GHz as shown in the Geekbench 3 benchmark, and GFXBench also showed the same. In terms of benchmark score, Exynos 7870 scores better than 7580. Exynos 7580 single-core score is 698 and multi-core are 3859.
As far as rest of the technical specifications are concerned, Samsung Galaxy J7 would feature 2GB RAM, 5.5-inches HD display, 16GB ROM (expandable with MicroSD), 13MP rear and 5MP front camera, and the device will be running Android 6.0.1 OS.
Galaxy J7 is also expected to arrive in another variant, where all the specs would remain the same, but they would use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon CPU. However, we don’t know what it could be. The previous leak via GFXBench shows it with Snapdragon 615, but this chip has already been used in 2015 model. So Samsung will certainly go for the later version of the Snapdragon Chip. We don’t have information on release date yet, we will update once we have more detail on it.
