Recently Google released Android 4.4.4 update, and this update reached the Google Nexus devices first via the factory image file. Google Nexus 5 was the first mobile to receive this update via OTA. As we have said earlier that almost all the device running Android Kitkat should receive this update, because this update is not intended to add more features or change the view or the customization of the mobile, but it’s all about fixing the open SSL bug with the Android OS.
After Google Nexus, Samsung released the OTA update for Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition. So the Galaxy S4 users received the Android 4.4.4 update after Google Nexus Devices.
Now, Sony is also ready with the update and has started releasing the OTA update, and Xperia Z1 Compact is the first Sony mobile to receive this update. This update comes as 14.4.A.0.108 build number. This build number also has been certified for two other Xperia models: Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1. So, these two devices will get the update soon as well.
HTC ONE M7 and M8 users should also expect the update soon. The problem is that they don’t release the update for all regions in one go. So the users holding the same device don’t get the update, even that is available in other countries. All we can do it wait. So hang on.
Now, we have also heard about the upcoming Android OS known as Android L, where L stands for Lollipop, but at the start it will be available only for developer. So, I don’t think it will be released officially before September 2014.
