We all kept talking and talking that iPhone 6s and 6s Plus would have Force Touch display, but Apple just said it to be 3D touch. Did they just change the name of Force Touch, or it really has something different?
There is little similarity between 3D Touch and Force Touch, but 3D touch do little more than Force Touch. You would feel the difference when you use it. One is certainly better than other. The Taptic Engine in iPhones allow the device to understand how much pressure you Finger is making on display, and then it acts accordingly.
3D Touch is more sensitive than Force Touch. If you have used Apple watch, you must have realized while watching the live demo of iPhone 6s that 3D touch responds quicker than Force Touch. It’s quite sensitive to recognize your simple Tap, firmer tap and lighter tap.
Huawei Mate S is the first smartphone to bring Force Touch technology in smartphones, and Apple made a difference launching 3D touch feature. Now it’s not only tap, swipe, pinch and zoom, but it has gone far beyond that. In iPhone 6s and 6s plus, you don’t even need to press the home button twice to switch from one app to another, you can simply tap on the edge.

Apple must have realized that the same force touch display in iPhone 6s and 6s plus would make the device slower, so they brought the new 3D touch technology. Apple has always been criticized for using outdated chip, less RAM, less pixels in camera etc.. However, Apple’s devices perform fluently even with that quality of specifications. It seems they care more about users’ experience than hardware.
