There are so many websites that serve GIFs as primary content, and allow users to download on embed them to their websites or blogs. GIF is the abbreviation of Graphics Interchange Format, and it could be either a still image or animated image. However, we will talk about Animated GIFs.

Google Image Search
Google Images is a search engine that allows searching animated images. All you have to do it visit Images.Google.Com, and type the type of GIFs you are looking for, e.g. Halloween GIFs, and hit Enter key. Now you will be on a page with lots of images. Now click on Search Tools option, then hit Type option, and click on Animated. The result will be filtered and you will see only animated images in the result.
GIPHY
GIPHY.Com was founded in 2013 by Jace Cooke and Alex Chung, and it allowed users to share animated GIFs on Social Media Websites, e.g. FaceBook and Twitter. FaceBook still doesn’t allow to post GIFs directly, you must use GIF URL from some certain GIF websites. It took just a couple of years to be the world’s most Popular website with millions of GIF images. They also offer apps for Android and iPhone. They have GIFs in all categories that you can download, embed on your website/blog or share on social media. GIPHY also allows creating GIFs from videos or still images or Edit a GIF.
Tumblr
Tumblr.Com is well known among users. It allows users to create a free blog as subdomain where you can post anything you like as long as it meets Tumblr policy. However, Tumblr has an extensive library of GIFs uploaded by many users, and it also includes sexual and pornographic GIFs. Tumblr is one of the world’s top 40 websites and it ranks 17 in the United States, according to Alexa Traffic Rank. Tumblr is also the first social media platform that allows iPhone users to upload Live Photos. Anyone can create a Tumblr account, and start building a customized page.

Imgur.Com was founded by Alan Schaaf in 2009, and it is one of the most popular image hosting service providers and sharing community. Along with GIFs, Imgur also allows uploading still images in JPG, PNG, TIFF and many other formats. Users are allowed to upload as large as a 200MB GIF file, but Imgur has its own coding that converts GIF files to GIFV if it is larger than 2MB. However, GIF doesn’t loose its quality and animation. GIFV conversion is done to reduce the size of the image and upload it faster.
GFYCat
GFYCat.Com is one of the most popular websites that allows users to Upload and Share GIFs from their website. Like GIPHY, GFYCat also offers applications for iPhone and Android devices. They have got millions of free animated images almost in all categories. You don’t need to be a registered user to upload a file to this website. When you click on upload, it asks to put the video URL from YouTube, FaceBook or any other site, and then it converts it to required format and upload on the website. The uploaded files are actually saved in WebM (video) format, but when you share it on FaceBook and many other social media, it appears as GIF. Users can click on it and view animation, just like you do for those GIFs shared via GIPHY. GFYCat allows to save files from their website, but those will be saved as a video file (WebM).
PhotoBucket
PhotoBucket.Com is another image hosting and sharing community where you can find a large library of GIFs as well as still images. Social Media like FaceBook, Twitter etc. support GIFs share via PhotoBucket website. PhotoBucket comes with a free as well as Paid Subscription. A free PhotoBucket user gets 2GB free storage to upload images. You can upgrade to Ad-free version for $0.99 a month or $9.99 a year, but it won’t give you any addition storage.
