Google has already started working on to provide free WiFi to the world, and this will start from New York. Google backed Urban Innovation startup “SideWalk Labs” is up on this project. They are making partnership with other companies to make it happen.
Telephone booths from New York city will be replaced by something kind of thin pillars that will have tablet-like interface. People around 150-foot will have free WiFi access, and can also make free local calls, charge their phone and have access to local information and services.
Providing Free WiFi along with other services doesn’t mean the company is just serving for nothing. The pillar’s display will support ads that will be shown to generate revenue. They have estimated around $ 500 million revenue over 12 years.
