How to Unlock Redmi Note 3 Bootloader, Root & Flash Recovery

Starting from Redmi Note 3 Xiaomi has started locking Bootloader. Xiaomi defends saying that it makes the phone more secure when Bootloader is locked. However, users need to install custom ROM, and developers also need access to Bootloader, on the other hand, they have not released its Global ROM so far. Whatever, we will learn how to unlock Redmi Note 3 Bootloader, Root, and Flash Recover TWRP.

Make your Redmi Note 3 ready
- Flash your Redmi Note 3 with Developer ROM as the process won’t work if you are using stable ROM. Download Developer ROM Here
- Once developer ROM is downloaded, transfer it to your Redmi Note 3 via computer
- Open Updater app on Redmi Note 3, tap on the small icon (located on the top right corner)
- Select Choose Update Package
- Locate your File, and Tap on it
- It will take sometimes, so wait for the flashing to complete
- Now make sure SIM Card must be inserted into the device
- You must be logged in to Mi Account that is associated with the same SIM card (mobile number) you are using. You can login/register to Mi account from Settings — > Accounts/Mi-Account
Now you are ready to unlock Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Bootloader, root it, and flash TWRP Recovery. However, you need to have a computer running Windows on it, and follow these steps.

How to Unlock Redmi Note 3 Bootloader
Note : Those without developer ROM, follow these steps
- Download Redmi Note 3 Bootloader unlocker from here
- Unzip the file
- Restart phone into Fastboot mode by pressing Power+Volume Down Key
- Connect Redmi Note 3 via USB Cable (use original cable to avoid error)
- Launch MiFlashUnlock.exe (located in the folder you just unzipped)
- Click the left button (written in Chinese text)
- Log in with the same Mi Account that you are using on your Redmi Note 3
- Hit the button that has Chinese texts, and hang on
- Once the progress bar reaches 100 percent, you can reboot your device
- Now you have unlocked the Bootloader of Redmi Note 3
Unlocking Redmi Note 3 Bootloader was easy, isn’t it? However, you still can’t root or flash any custom ROM right now as you need to flash TWRP (recovery) first.
How to Flash Recovery (TWRP) in Redmi Note 3
- Download TWRP here
- Copy the downloaded TWRP file, and paste it in the folder where Bootloader Unlocker (MiFlashUnlock) is because in the same folder Fastboot.exe is located, so that needs to be there
- Be in the same folder (MiFlashUnlock), open Windows Command in the same directory. If you face any issue Just Run Command –> Drag and Drop MiFlashUnlock folder in the command terminal, and it will get the path
- Now type this “fastboot flash recovery TWRP_redminote3_patchedBySebsch1991.img” without quote, and hit Enter
- Wait until the process is complete
- Type this “fastboot reboot“ without quote
- Now your Redmi Note will start, and the process is complete
- Now you can turn off the phone, Press Power+Volume Up key to boot into recovery mode
Now you have unlocked Redmi Note 3 Bootloader and flash the recovery. We will root the device now
- Download SuperSU file here
- Transfer it to your phone Storage
- Turn off the device completely, Press Power+Volume Up key together to boot into recovery mode
- Select Install
- Locate SuperSU file, and select it
- Wait for the process completion
- Reboot your device now
- You have rooted Redmi Note 3 Now
