Update: This model is known as Meizu Blue Charm Metal, and it is officially launched now.
Meizu recently launched Meizu Pro 5 with Exynos 7420 SoC, but they have still not shipped the device. They delayed the shipment because typhoon flooded the factory, Meizu reported. However, they have announced to provide complimentary gifts, like headsets and accidental insurance to compensate. This delay will cost the company around $1.5 million. In the meantime, company would launch another smartphone.
Meizu M57A has just passed certification via Tenaa, they listed the device on their official website along with its technical specification. Meizu M57A will feature 5.5 inches IPS display with 1920 X 1080 pixels resolution, 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM with MicroSD card support up to 128GB, 13-megapixel primary camera with dual-LED flash and 4X digital zoom, 5-megapixel front shooter, 64-bit octa-core 2.0 GHz Mediatek Helio X10 (MT6795) chipset, PowerVR G6200 GPU etc..
Meizu M2 Note has quite similar design, but the only difference is the body. M2 Note has bee wrapped in plastic body, and M57A features metal body. M2 Note comes with 1.3GHz octa-core Mediatek MT6753, but M57A has been upgraded to Helio X10 2.0 GHz. Meizu M57A is probably an upgraded version of M2 Note, and following the company trend, they may name it Meizu Note Pro or may be M2 Note Pro.
Meizu also has one surprise for us. Meizu M57A will be powered by YunOS 3.1.6 (not Android). It’s not clear if users can replace it with Android or not, but don’t get upset. YunOS also supports Android apps. YunOS is also known as Aliyun OS, it has been designed and developed by Alibaba, and it is based on Linux distribution.
What’s unique in YunOS (Aliyun OS)
** According to PCWorld YunOS (Aliyun OS) can run Android apps as well as web based Java Script or HTML 5 apps. This would make many users happy that they can still use Android apps. However, It may not support some apps because it doesn’t use the same framework or tools what Android apps use.
** YunOS has been designed to ease cloud computing experience. It comes with some cloud apps, and users also get up to 100 GB free cloud storage. You can store your media files, like photos, videos, audios etc.. You can even allow them to sync your call history, contacts and text messages. Access them anywhere you are, even from computers or laptops.
We have also come across one report; Google claimed YunOS and Android both have quite similar features. Google said it to be a replica of android, but Alibaba disputed that it has nothing to do with Android as it has its own virtual machine and the core of YunOS including cloud engine and Java is different. Well, lets come back to Meizu M57A.
