We know that Microsoft has ended the support for Windows XP that existed for 12 years, but who knew that the Windows 7 support will be ended so early? Yes, Microsoft has already announced that Windows 7 user will no longer receive mainstream support from Microsoft after 13th January, 2015, and will be moved to extended support.
Windows 7 was released in 2009, and in comparison to Windows XP, Microsoft should provide mainstream support for some more years, but it will be disappeared as early as in 6 years. So those users who switched from Windows XP to Windows 7 might repent that they should have switched directly to Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. End of support includes all the version of Windows 7 (Professional, Home, Ultimate, Enterprise and so on………).
Microsoft is recommending users to upgrade/switch to Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. We can’t tell the exact reason behind this, but that must be related to Windows Phone. Microsoft seems to take its mobile and computer Operating System on one platform, so that they can concentrate on one operating system and compete other OS in the market (especially Android).
However, it’s not only Windows 7, but there are more products that will not receive any support from Microsoft. For ex: Office 2010 Service Pack 1 support will end on 14th October, 2014. Sharing the screenshot for the full list what we found on Microsoft Website:
