Google nexus 5 became the first mobile with Android 4.4 (kitkat) operating system. As we know, Google’s devices get the all the android updates first, thereafter it gets rolled out for other devices. After Google Nexus 5, Nexus 4 and Motorola Moto X are getting Android 4.4, kitkat. Users from all regions might not be able to update now, but it has already been rolled out. Gradually it will be available for all Moto X and Nexus 4 users. These users should be happy, at least they are going to get Android 4.4 soon, but owners of the other mobiles are still waiting to hear anything about this. HTC will start rolling out Android 4.4 from January 2014, so HTC users need to have a little more patience.
Well, some users are eager to get Android 4, but let me remind you that Android 4.3 is still not available for many Android phones. There is a good news for Galaxy Note II users. Android 4.3 (jelly bean) has been rolled out for Note II users. This update is not available in all regions like Android 4.4, but it will be available soon. All users with Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be glad about it, because this will resolve the compatibility issue of Galaxy Gear smartwatch with Galaxy Note II. This update can’t really make your Note II exactly a Note III device, but you will get some more features for sure.
However, Sony mobile is still running behind. Sony has confirmed that the Android 4.3 update will be rolled out for some devices in December 2013, and there are some devices running on Android 4.1 will be updated to Android 4.3 directly. There is no confirmed time frame from Sony about the Android 4.4 update. Sony has everything in their mobile, and they can make it better to attract more people just to release updates quickly. Now, users are conscious about everything. If they find that any particular mobile company releases most of the updates before other mobile companies, next time when they buy mobile, will think about it for sure. Making a good mobile makes a difference, but providing latest updates gives the best user experience and this is a great chance to attract more users.
Android 4.4 (kitkat) has some improved features, like chat app is replaced to hangouts, better caller ID feature as it can even try to find the location on the map of that number which doesn’t appear on your display when you receive a call, more customized home screen, and there are some more features. You can read this article to know more about it. It’s sad for many Android phone users as they can’t upgrade their phone to Android 4.4 at all. In this regard, Motorola is doing a great job. Motorola has not just released Android 4.4 update for Moto X but has also promised for Android 4.4 update with its new mobile Moto G which is going to be launched in January 2014. Hang tight, and keep an eye on! You will get a notification on your mobile as and when the update hits your mobile. Good luck!
