Samsung users are eagerly waiting for Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, but there is no official confirmation on it. Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is expected to receive OTA update by the end of December 2015, and Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge Plus may received update in January 2016.
After updating Nexus devices to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Google has already started pushing Android 6.01. update. A few Android One Models have already been updated as well. So Samsung may release Android 6.0.1 directly as OTA update, but this is not certain which devices will be included. We have spotted Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F on Geekbench running Android 6.0.1 OS. It seems Samsung ran a test. You can check the screenshot below.
Along with Samsung other brands are also struggling to release update. LG was quicker to released the update for LG G3. However, most of the Smartphone manufacturers are working on to release the update. Some are expected to release it by the end of this month, and some may update the device in 2016. There may be instances that many devices will be upgraded to Android 6.0.1 directly.
Android 6.0.1 will not be quite different compared to Android 6.0. The OS will still be known as Android Marshmallow, and it would bring bug fixes and some minor changes. Android 6.0 update made clock slower in many devices, and the update will fix this issue. It will also bring some new Emoji that Android 6.0 doesn’t support.
