After Apple A9 chip benchmark blast and Snapdragon 810 heat issue, Qualcomm has delayed Snapdragon 820 launch. It seems Qualcomm wants to make sure they are competitive enough when they launch its new high-end chip. Snapdragon 820 is quad-core processor based on 14nm FinFET technology and can reach the clock speed up to 2.2 GHz.
Well, Qualcomm has started testing with various clock speed. It scored quite well when we saw Snapdragon 820 V3 benchmark, but now they has started testing @ 1.6 GHz clock speed. So the score went down, but there is great improvement in Single-core performance. Snapdragon 820 has now scored more than 1900 in single core performance.
Have a quick look at Snapdragon 820 vs Apple A9 benchmark score. Qualcomm has tested this today.
Snapdragon 820 has improved much in terms of memory performance. This is very important to make the device faster. Faster storage performs any task faster, and this will boost the performance for sure.

Qualcomm’s high-end chip has always been better in benchmarking test compared to Apple chipset, but this time it seems quite challenging for Qualcomm to meet the performance like Apple A9 chip. Snapdragon 820 scored lower every way, but thanks to memory performance test. Qualcomm still has time to optimize it, and they may come with something better in the early 2016. Let’s hope for the best.
